Projects that enrich learning and responsibility

St. Francis School Birkirkara prides itself in taking part in various projects, such as Ekoskola, Dinja Waħda and Let’s Talk Farming. Staff, students and parents alike take an active role in these projects and do their best to fulfil the various outcomes, goals and expectations. In fact, we have always achieved excellent results in all projects. Besides these projects, the school is often involved in Erasmus projects to give educators the opportunity to enrich their pedagogical and methodological processes.

EkoSkola

EkoSkola is a dynamic programme that empowers students to become responsible citizens and active change agents for a more sustainable world.

Through action-based learning, students develop the skills, values and attitudes needed to make a positive difference for the environment.

Dinja Waħda

Through Dinja Waħda, pupils are encouraged to appreciate nature, protect biodiversity and take practical steps towards environmental conservation.

The programme helps students understand their role in caring for creation and promoting sustainable choices.

Let’s Talk Farming

Let’s Talk Farming promotes farming and food production through engaging educational activities across schools.

Our school has proudly participated in this programme, helping students gain knowledge, appreciation and practical skills through hands-on, real-world experiences.

Sustainability across all year groups

Our school places a strong emphasis on environmental awareness through its participation in programmes organised by EkoSkola, Dinja Waħda and Let’s Talk Farming.

These initiatives are implemented across all year groups and have enabled the school to achieve national recognition for its efforts in waste reduction and environmental conservation.

Pupils take an active role in planning and leading projects and campaigns that promote sustainability within the wider community.

Student Leadership

Each class elects a representative to form part of the EkoSkola Committee.

Whole-School Approach

Students, staff and the wider school community work together to make informed environmental decisions.

Community Collaboration

Committee members collaborate with local organisations, including the Local Council, to support sustainability.

Recognition

Successful commitment can lead to prestigious recognition such as the Green Flag eco-label.
