Ms. Daniela Demicoli
Head of School

I welcome you all to St. Francis School, B'Kara with great pleasure and pride. Welcome to an educational institution which knows its origin way back to 1885 when the Franciscan nuns first opened their doors to educate young children at B'Kara.

Through the years the school has always strived for excellence in all spheres in the light of the experience of the Gospel and the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.

Motivated by the Christian value of Love and inspired by the Franciscan Charisma of Simplicity, St. Francis School continues to evolve dynamically and positively.

“Aim High” keeps us moving forward together as a learning community.
Mission Statement

Educating the Whole Person

Faithful to the charism of our foundress — The Venerable Mother Margherita De Brincat — we strive to educate the Whole Person in a Value-Rich Environment transforming students into true Christians.

Growing in wisdom, age and grace before God and the people of God, mastering academic skills in order that they may contribute to and survive in a global neighbourhood.

Who We Are

A Franciscan education rooted in values

St Francis School Birkirkara is one of four primary schools in the Maltese Islands run by the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus.

We are a co-educational, mixed-ability primary school offering a values-based education rooted in Christian principles and inspired by the charism of our Foundress, the Venerable Mother Margherita De Brincat.

Guided by the spirit of St Francis of Assisi, we strive to nurture a culture of care for others, for creation and oneself while equipping students with strong academic foundations and essential 21st-century skills.

Holistic Formation

Our mission is to nurture pupils academically, spiritually, emotionally and socially within a caring school community.

School Life

Our Ethos, Premises & Projects

A welcoming environment with a strong sense of identity and community.

School Ethos

The ethos of the school is grounded in the quality of relationships at all levels: between senior management and teachers, between teachers, between teachers and parents, between teachers and students, and between students themselves.

Such relationships are characterised by mutual respect, understanding and encouragement. Positive behaviour is promoted consistently while parents are encouraged to participate actively in school life.

The Premises

The school functions efficiently through three buildings located within walking distance in Mnajjar Street, Birkirkara.

Facilities include a multisensory room, library, chapel, science lab, creative arts room, home economics lab, guidance room, clinic and spacious yard.

We continuously modernise and improve our facilities to provide the best possible learning environment for today’s students.

School Projects

St. Francis School Birkirkara actively participates in projects such as Ekoskola, Dinja Wahda and Let’s Talk Farming.

The school is also involved in Erasmus projects, enabling educators to enrich pedagogical and methodological practices.
