Assessment and Reporting
Assessment is a vital part of learning, helping educators understand each child’s progress, potential and next steps.
Progress with purpose
We use a range of assessment methods to observe, record and document learning, ensuring every child’s journey is understood and supported.
Understanding each learner’s progress and potential
Assessment involves observing, recording and documenting the work students do and how they approach it, forming the foundation for informed educational decisions. At our school, we use a variety of assessment methods to capture each learner’s progress and potential.
A complete picture of each child’s learning journey
Learning is documented in multiple ways, giving educators meaningful evidence to support planning, reflection and future learning.
Observations
Observation helps educators understand engagement, thinking, problem-solving and interaction.
Anecdotal Records
Teachers record meaningful learning moments to help interpret each student’s development.
Photographs & Videos
Visual evidence captures learning in action and supports reflection and planning.
Work Samples
Samples of students’ work reflect progress, effort and next learning steps.
Assessment that supports ongoing learning
We place strong emphasis on formative and authentic assessment, which supports ongoing learning, while also incorporating summative assessment where appropriate.
All assessment is guided by our Learning Outcomes Framework, with children’s progress systematically documented on our online platform, MySchool.
Educators use this evidence to interpret each student’s learning journey and plan meaningful next steps, providing targeted resources and opportunities tailored to the child’s needs.
Observe and document
Teachers gather evidence through observation, records, photographs, videos and work samples.
Interpret the learning
Evidence is used to understand progress, strengths, needs and learning behaviours.
Plan next steps
Educators provide meaningful resources and learning opportunities based on each child’s needs.
Share with parents
Detailed notes support high-quality discussions with parents or guardians.
Clear communication through MySchool
Official Reports
Parents receive an official report twice a year through MySchool, serving both as a summary of learning and as a formal record.
Meaningful Discussion Points
Assessment notes provide valuable discussion points during parent or guardian meetings, including suggestions for extending learning at home.
Student Voice
Students are active participants in assessment. Their thoughts, reflections and opinions are valued and incorporated into the process.
Assessment that empowers learners
By valuing evidence, reflection and student voice, assessment becomes more than reporting — it guides each child along a personalised path of growth and discovery.
